Our Packaging Is a Second Life for Filament Boxes

Every kilogram of filament we order arrives in a sturdy cardboard box. Bambu, eSUN, Keleidi — they all ship their spools in solid, well-made packaging that could easily survive another trip. For a long time those boxes just stacked up. At some point the obvious answer clicked: stop buying separate packaging and use what's already here.

What we actually do

The process is straightforward. Once a spool is used up, the box gets inspected — if it's clean and structurally sound, it goes into the packaging pile. Before it ships out with a client's prints, we stamp our F mark on the face of the box.

The stamp leaves a clean impression directly on the kraft cardboard. No sticker to peel off, no extra layer — just the mark pressed into the same surface the filament brand printed on. It takes a few seconds and gives the box a second identity.

For sealing, we use a round logo sticker over the top flap, and a printed label on the side tells the recipient exactly what's inside.

The stash

We go through a lot of filament. That means a steady supply of boxes in a range of sizes — small ones that fit a handful of miniatures, larger ones for full container orders. We keep them sorted and pull whatever fits the order.

The boxes are already built to protect a 1 kg spool through international shipping, so they're more than capable of getting your prints to you safely.

Why it works for us

Two reasons pushed us toward this:

Cost. Buying plain mailer boxes adds up. Every order we fulfil from the spool box pile is one we didn't have to spend on packaging. At our volume that's a meaningful saving.

Waste. Filament boxes are a byproduct of running this business — they exist whether we want them to or not. Throwing them straight into recycling after one use felt like the wrong answer when they were perfectly capable of another round.

The result is packaging that costs us almost nothing, keeps usable cardboard out of the bin, and looks deliberately branded rather than generic. Not bad for something that would have otherwise been recycled after a single trip.
